Parks in Cokato

At Veterans Memorial Park, located on Johnson Avenue North, on the east side of Brooks Lake, people can enjoy a baseball field, picnic shelter, open play fields, playground equipment, a boat launching ramp, and fishing pier. This is also home to the Cokato Kings mens’ amateur baseball team.

Peterson Park is located on Broadway and Fourth Avenue. The 4.8-acre park is adjacent to both the business district and the elementary school, and is the site of many community activities, including the annual Cokato Corn Carnival.

Children find hours of active fun with playground equipment, ball diamonds, and a steep hill for winter sledding.

For additional winter playtime, many people come to Mooers Avenue Park, located at Eighth Street and Mooers Avenue. Skaters enjoy the hockey rink and the open skating rink. If they get cold, they can take a break in the warming house provided by the city.

There are also two tennis courts and a basketball court located across Jackson, between Fifth and Sixth streets, near the municipal swimming pool.

Those who live on the southeast end of Cokato frequently go to Prairie Park, a neighborhood park located in Builders Park Addition. The park offers playground equipment, ball fields, two volleyball courts, a basketball court, and open space.

For a good game of horseshoes, head to Railroad Park, which has eight horseshoe pits. It is located on Broadway Avenue, adjacent to the business district, and provides night lighting for evening use.

Unity Park, located on the corner of Broadway and Third Street, was created after a tornado struck downtown Cokato in 1992. It memorializes residents’ efforts in restoring the city.

Trailstone Park is located in the southwest corner of town and features new playground equipment.

For bikers, walkers, and Roller Bladers, the Dassel-Cokato Bike Path offers a six-mile paved pathway that runs between the two towns, providing a safe avenue to exercise and/or travel to and from school.
